This March, VizionZ Engineering was part of the Dutch trade mission to Denmark and the North of Germany to promote the company’s prime innovative technology for the cost reduction of offshore wind foundations – the ZeaDamper™. Trailing behind the Dutch King and Queen and the minister of foreign affairs, VizionZ Engineering was one of the companies promoting the services and innovative products that the Dutch offshore wind industry has to offer.

The VizionZ technology was received well by the innovation-minded industry parties from both countries including several of the leading project developers and contractors in the sector.  The ZeaDamper™ addresses namely the major challenge in the whole offshore wind industry for the coming years – reduction of the cost. And it does so in a cost effective way.

Our managing director was part of several discussion panels on the subject offshore wind including one with Her Majesty the Queen Máxima of the Netherlands. The visits to both Copenhagen and Hamburg also offered good opportunities for one-on-one meetings with the leading companies and research organizations in offshore wind, which proved to be very valuable for the international ambitions of VizionZ Engineering.

Finally, a visit to several places symbolizing the leading role of Denmark in renewable energy and offshore wind in particular made the trade mission complete. These included a visit to the Middelgrunden wind farm and the island Samsø.

We are looking back at a successful mission and looking forward towards several potential partnerships for the joint development of the ZeaDamper™ technology in tackling the cost reduction in offshore wind.

The iSea event is organized annually by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment ("Rijkswaterstaat") aimed at stimulating innovation for the sustainable development of the North Sea.

Part of this event is the competition "Clash of the Concepts", where innovative technologies compete in front of the jury from the offshore and delta sector. The lineup this year of 11 companies included amongst others innovative technologies for harvesting of wave and tidal energy and the collection and reuse of plastic waste. VizionZ participated in the battle with our innovative damping technology for offshore wind - the ZeaDamper - focusing on the sustainability improvement it offers for the North Sea in terms of reduced material use and CO2 footprint.

The battle was tough and took two rounds. After the two semi-finals, the final 4 concepts remained to battle for the prize of 10.000 euro. The final was a close call, but in the end the ZeaDamper was awarded the win. The prize money will be used for the further development of the technology with TNO.

VizionZ Engineering has been admitted to the select family of high-tech Delft startups preparing to become tomorrow’s leading firms. We are happy to be moving to our new office at the Incubator as of January 2014 and being part of the innovative and dynamic atmosphere.

A perfect start of the new year!

VizionZ has been selected to participate with our offshore substructures technology in the EDF Pulse Awards competition for innovative technologies. EDF (Électricité de France) is the world's largest producer of electricity and with its subsidiary, EDF Energies Nouvelles - a major global player in wind and solar photovoltaic power - is developing its business in offshore wind power.

With the EDF Pulse Awards, EDF is preparing  the future by supporting international innovations that exploit the incredible potential of electricity, and those which will sustainably transform our way of living.

VizionZ has been selected to particiapate in the EDF Pulse "Electricity and Smart Living" Awards with our technology for the improvement of the performance of offshore support structures. The improvement of the dynamic characteristics through our addon system enables the next generation of "smart" support structures that utilize the used steel more efficiently and, thus, save costs.

VizionZ Engineering has been selected by the jury as the winning startup company of the 2nd YES!Delft LaunchLab.

The competition has been tough, with innovative startups from different industries. In the end, VizionZ has demonstrated the best developed and validated business model. The business proposition based on our innovative technology has shown the potential to change the offshore wind industry and open the doors to significant cost reduction in the future.
